Beelzebubby

Beelzebubby was a very large project in which I started to experiment with just how creepy I could make a furby look while still being somewhat aesthetically pleasing.

I started with a simple concept sketch to visualize the colors and overall theme.

Next comes the gruesome part, taking apart the faceplate to prepare for painting.

I got some wooden articulated hands and painted them to match the new face. I also designed and printed my own parts to attach them to the armature that would later become the arms.

After many hours of painting, sewing and assembling, my lovely 6.5 foot long friend was born.

Kevin

Kevin is my own take on a 2005 style furby.

First comes concept art! Followed by some very creepy polymer clay sculpts. The flared edges of the face parts were made so that I could glue them on safely from the inside.

I made a pattern that would look similar (but not identical) to a 2005 furby. After beginning to paint, I placed his eyes on the body for a quick (and hilarious) test.

After getting most of his parts finished, I pinned him up to see how he would look with his nice new sneakers. He seemed pleased.

After finishing him up, he seemed to be missing something. A pair of my old glasses fixed that problem right away.
